2010s Glamour The Already Unforgettable Trends from this Decade

Low-rise jeans, crop tops, and shiny materials are the new fashion trends young people love to boast about on social media. But wait a minute, didn’t we already do this f?

For many of us, this so-called new trend brings back flashbacks because we’ve already lived it – the Y2K look (or every high schooler’s Tuesday back then) is back in trends, and GenZ-ers couldn’t be happier about it. But it’s also a bit nostalgic for the Millennials who got to experience it first-hand.

So, whether you’re new to the gang or tagging along for good memories, let’s look at the trends that are making a comeback 20-something years later.

Super Low-rise Jeans and Pants

If you’re not afraid your belly and lower back will get cold, you’re all good for the super low-rise pants! However, if you were around when these first were in fashion, you may have a few concerns – after all, the Y2K fashion isn’t known for its inclusiveness (especially when it comes to showcasing a bare belly).

However, the new trend (as it’s promoted by Vogue) is a lot more accepting of different body types. The silhouette is now oversized and less fussy, which gives everyone a chance to wear these pants.

Speaking of oversized, the ultra-wide pant leg is an item also borrowed from Y2K fashion. However, in today’s clothes, the wideness is less extreme, so people can actually wear these pants while going about their everyday lives.

Baguette Bags

Perfect to hold your smartphone and credit cards, the baguette bag is back in fashion. If you’re a fan of Sex and the City and Carrie Bradshaw, you probably already have one or two such tiny purses stashed somewhere in the closet. So make sure to get them out – it’s their time to shine!

The bags from the Y2K era are now all the craze among celebrities as well (maybe they all secretly loved Carrie Bradshaw’s style, who knows?), so it’s easy to spot big names with an equally big fashion label on their shoulder.

But if you can’t afford a Fendy or a Balenciaga, you can still jump on the bandwagon with a baguette bag in shiny, metallic fabrics.

Shiny Outfits & Makeup

When the trend of shiny outfits first started, people were trying to think about the future and imagine how fashion would look in the age of the internet. Now that we are in the age of the internet, things are different, but this doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a bit of sparkle in our lives.

It’s enough to open TikTok or Instagram, and you’ll see that the Y2K makeup looks are making a strong comeback. Shiny skin, glittery eyeshadow, and accessories are trending, and all you can do is enjoy or join in.

In terms of clothing, you need silvery and pearlescent shades in combination with bright color cardigans and tops. Pink and orange are in high demand right now, but you can also get away with it if you’re wearing light blue.

Baby T-shirts

Cute and small, the t-shirts that stop just above your belly button are back in fashion. And, in true Y2K fashion, they must have cute patterns or impressive quotes to attract the eye. The best way to rock your baby tee is to style it with high-rise, loose-fitting jeans and cute hair accessories.

Wrap Up

The resurrection of Y2K looks is not necessarily about being wild and bold. Nowadays, cute t-shirts, quirky jeans, and highly-visual materials and patterns look amazing in pictures and trend well on social media. Youngsters enjoy the attention and brands love the idea of a redo, so we should enjoy it while it lasts.
