Our December fashion favourites for 2022: Here's what to shop - RUSSH

December is both finally here and also almost gone, such is the reality of life in a time warp these days. It’s the last month of our fashion favourites of the year, and to celebrate, we’re leaning towards the more gentle expressions of getting dressed.

What some may consider heavily influenced by Ballet-core (not, not true) we’re approaching the final weeks of December with a sense of summer ease. Portia’s character on The White Lotus has made us shy heavily away from any loud colours, jorts, or excessive beads, and gravitate towards muted colours, soft pinks, relaxed, cozy-yet-weather appropriate silhouettes, and some special things along the way. After a solid three months of event dressing, the RUSSH editors are wrung dry from any affinity towards sparkly accessories or sexy LBD’s. Bring on the holidays.

We’re thinking about baby pink in the form of two dresses: one from New York label Baci that transforms from mini to midi to maxi, and one from Sydney’s own Christopher Esber made of a soft, stretchy Jersey. For shoes, Manolo Blahnik offers the most subtle ballerina’s on the market, while Margiela’s heeled loafers are perfect for a touch of prep. In keeping with the brown accessories theme (both enduring and fulfilling my brown and pink fetish) Bottega Veneta’s Pipe shoulder bag feels like the perfectly polished version of a summer hold-all basket.

Finally, and in very ballet fashion, Paloma Wool’s baby blue leg warmers are to die for, especially for those who have lizard like tendencies (AKA me) and can never seem to be warm enough, while Supriya Lele serves up the only “dressy” thing we are still excited about.
