K-Way FW23 Runway Show at Milan Fashion Week – HYPEBEAST

K-Way transported Milanese showgoers all the way to a Parisian café for its Fall/Winter 2023 runway show last night. Held in a recreation of Café de la Paix — the eatery in which the founder Léon-Claude Duhamel came up with the idea for the brand one rainy day in 1965 — the glitterati sat shoulder-to-shoulder on wicker chairs before being treated to patisseries made by the chefs of the Parisian landmark.

But as the show started we were no longer in Paris, but a rave. Expressed by some of the key looks of the collection, K-Way presented multi-dimensional layers comprising three jackets stacked atop of each other, worn open to reveal the technical detailing beneath. In the opening orange look, we found shell jackets over packable nylon raincoats paired with shiny rubber-like shorts carved out of a quilted pattern and paired with nylon legwarmers, coming together for something inherently technical.

Likewise, an all-black ensemble introduced pleated materials that dominated much of the collection’s best bits, but here, it worked a pair of shorts. K-Way took a step into the world of tailoring this season with shirts, ties, and formal accents like high socks, or Vibram-equipped boots, but kept its identity at the root of it all with this black outfit being finished off with its exaggerated parka coat.

But it was the conceptual looks that truly stole the show at K-Way. Three finales mixed office attire slacks and knitwear with a scarf of jackets bundled together, a look comprising multiple jackets hanging from the body of just one oversized jacket, and a dress. Here, every color of the rainbow was added into the mix as jackets were tied around the model and stitched to one another, marking a dramatic display to close the show.

Bringing the K-Way collection together was its sustainable initiative, as everything was made from jacquard cottons, mohair, and merino wools, Loro Piana’s “STORM SYSTEM” technology, “AMIABLE” — which is made from recycled nylon scraps bonded to a silver membrane — and, finally, “MOLINA” recycled down padding.
