Be in vogue at the Isle of Wight Festival with our top fashion tips

With the Isle of Wight Festival happening this month, it’s time to start thinking about your festival wardrobe.

Here’s my top tips, if you’re at a loss and want a few pointers about this year’s trends.

Gods and Goddesses

I have to start off with the Isle of Wight Festival theme for 2023, which is Gods and Goddesses.

This will hopefully be influencing fashion choices! I’m thinking tiaras, jewels, long floaty dresses, leather belts, sashes.

Although I’m thinking Roman and Greek, of course you could always choose to emulate your favourite celebrity Gods or Goddesses!

Crochet and mesh

One of the biggest trends I’ve noticed throughout spring is lightweight crochet and mesh, which will definitely carry on this summer.

Woven clothes can be super cute in lots of unique patterns and can be styled in many ways.

Effortless crochet bucket hats have hit the fashion world and floaty cover-ups over a simple tank top are practical in the warmer months.

Crochet is stylish in neutrals for the boho aesthetic or in brighter festival colours.

Of course denim has to be mentioned with any look at fashion trends – it’s completely timeless and can be styled with anything.

Catwalks recently have started to see double denim make its comeback. Is this something you’ll be styling in your outfits?

Fringing has always proven a hit at the festivals, for men or women, so I’m sure this year will be no different.

Fringing adds so much movement to an outfit making it very noticeable.

We’ve seen plenty of fringing on leather outfits, but fun tassels can be added to pretty much any item of clothing in your wardrobe.

I particularly like the look of vintage fringing on denim.

Cowboy boots

The main shoe trend I’ve noticed this year is cowboy boots, thanks to Chanel for keeping them relevant on the catwalk and Beyonce wearing them during her current world tour. They have been seen everywhere!

They could work out very practical for a festival. I’ve seen the boots be styled with feminine dresses but any outfit chosen to wear would certainly be emphasised with cowboy boots on.

Barbie world

We can’t ignore the highly anticipated Barbie movie coming out this summer.

Will this persuade us to add more pink into our wardrobes?

Stay sustainable

Staying sustainable with your fashion choices will hopefully be on your mind this summer as you choose your festival outfits.

On the Isle of Wight we can find amazing vintage and quality second-hand outfits in our charity shops for bargain prices.

Just take a look at this festival themed window at the Red Cross charity shop in Newport.

I for one can’t wait to see all the styles again this year.
