Researchers at Karen Millen had the same question and used several Google Search algorithms to calculate which states had the most fashion searches in the last year. Ranking each of the 50 states according to an analysis of these Google Search results, researchers were able to determine what specific fashion terms were most searched for, giving us a quantitative representation of each state’s fashion preferences. 

Weather and overall atmosphere definitely play a role in what terms were most searched, as well as the state’s emphasis on fashion events and their population of fashion influencers. Whether you live in one of these states or plan on visiting soon, it’s best to pay attention to your wardrobe choices here!

Here are the top 10 most fashion-obsessed states, ranked from least to most! 

10. Rhode Island

The smallest state has a major love of fashion. The preppy style is confirmed by a high level of searches for clothing like sweatshirts and dresses. Colorful and classic, Rhode Island style is fun and matches the energy of the beautiful, colorful state!

9. Georgia

Georgia’s summer fashion is simply adorable, but year-round, style is a major aspect of the state’s culture. Dresses and jeans were highly searched online for the duration of the study. Cool girl style and preppy colors are the statement styles of the state!

8. Delaware

Delaware residents often search for a variety of fashion terms, with the highest being sneakers and leather pieces, as well as other broad fashion searches. A wide mix of beachy, preppy, and clean girl-aesthetic outfits, the women of Delaware love their online fashion inspo and are experts in recreating those looks!

7. Alabama and Mississippi

Tied for the 7th spot, Alabama and Mississippi combined have the most searches for jeans out of any of the other states. Denim is a staple here, and is styled according to a variety of different style aesthetics. 

6. Massachusetts

Another New England fashion state made the top 10 list! Massachusetts residents searched for sweatshirt styling, which combines several fashion aesthetics into one particular piece of clothing. Women here style them with cargo pants and sneakers, as well as a preppier style with jeans.

5. Maryland

The New England style continues in Maryland, ranking fifth on the list. The most popular searches in this part of the country include handbags and leather jackets, indicating a simple and purposeful style. 4. Connecticut

Ranking fourth, Connecticut hones in on the fashion search of dresses, which implies a sweet femininity that shouldn’t be ignored.
