For Daiki Suzuki, presenting a vision of fused cultural and stylistic designs has always been a driving force for his brand Engineered Garments. In crafting his latest collection for the Fall/Winter 2023 season, Suzuki returns to his roots – offering up a conversation on signature outdoor Americana styles.

Engineered Garment’s aesthetic was birthed out of Suzuki’s love for natural beauty, which was influenced by the designer growing up in Hirosaki, Japan. As such, outdoor equipment elements were a focal part of the brand’s early design philosophy and have remained a core brand identity ever since. Now, outdoor Americana styles are taking over again for the brand’s newest collection – marking a return to the brand’s roots.

The collection presents a masterful exhibition of blended styles and intelligent styling. Contemporary jackets in shell, cotton and suede fabrications appear with relaxed nylon pants, graphic hoodies and geometric wool ponchos, while warm-toned houndstooth suiting holds hands with soft waistcoats and printed button-down shirts. But that’s just the start of the story. Whether it be boxy-cut elongated plaid shorts, indigo denim, crimson red monochromatic ensembles or quilted coordinating sets, the collection artfully channels the beauty in mixing.

The collection hits all of the markers of elevated outdoor style. Elsewhere in the collection are hybridized suiting, reconstructed wool jackets, corduroy cargo pants and modernized kimono tops. Highlights of the collection include knitted jackets and poncho-like pieces in hues of orange, camel, wheat and azure blue, quilted nylon outerwear in classic shades and relaxed multi-design suiting.
